I am a biologist with PhD in Marine Biology from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF),
where I developed my thesis studying different aspects of the biology of nominally
herbivorous reef fishes. During that time, I evaluated the influence of herbivorous fishes on
the reef benthic community on Southeastern Brazil and also analyzed nutritional aspects on
herbivores diets in New Zealand with Dr. Kendall Clements (University of Auckland, New
Zealand). Afterwards, I turned my research focus to macroecology during a two-year
postdoc in France working with Dr. Michel Kulbicki (IRD, France) on a project to investigate
patterns of the distribution of different groups of herbivorous fishes.

Currently, I’m a postdoctoral researcher (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ)
investigating the drivers of herbivorous fish assemblages across multiple spatial scales,
from a local to a global perspective. I also coordinate the monitoring program of reef fish
assemblages in the Arraial do Cabo Marine Reserve (RESEXMar) as part of the Project
Costão Rochoso.
